VA Disability Appeal Kit

Rated too low?
You could be owed more.

A higher rating means more money each month, plus back pay to the date you were first eligible, and you have one year to appeal. The kit explains your decision, points you to the right review, and generates the filing from your answers, on any device.

The decision review

One year. Three paths.

A decision review is not one process, it is three, and picking the wrong one costs you time. The kit identifies your situation and tells you which lane fits, then prepares that exact form.

VA Form 20-0995

Supplemental Claim

I have new evidence VA never saw

A reviewer decides your claim again with the new records. VA has a duty to assist and must help gather the records you identify.

Higher-Level Review

VA made a mistake with what it had

A senior reviewer takes a fresh look at the same evidence. You add nothing new; instead you point to the specific errors, and can ask for a call to explain them.

No new evidence, just the errors

Board Appeal

I want a Veterans Law Judge to decide

Your case goes to the Board of Veterans' Appeals. You choose a direct review, new evidence, or a hearing with the judge.

Condition got worse, on the PACT Act list, or unable to work? The kit decodes a claim for increase, presumptives, and TDIU too.
1 yearto file a review

Your deadline is the day the VA receives your review, not the day you mail it.

You have one year from the date on your decision letter to file a review, and filing in time protects your effective date, which is what protects your back pay. The VA goes by the date it receives your form, not the postmark, so the kit counts backward and helps you add the deadline to your calendar.

Counted to the date received, added to your calendar
The part nobody explains

VA ratings combine. They do not add.

This is why a stack of ratings often lands lower than veterans expect.

Each new rating only applies to what is left after the last one, then the total rounds to the nearest ten. The kit does this math for you, shows where you actually stand, and flags when an increase or a missed condition could move you up a bracket.

A 50% and a 30% rating
50% + 30% = 70%
Not 80%. They combine to 65%, then round to 70%.
When the decision arrives

It explains your decision and generates the review.

VA decision letters are dense and easy to misread. The kit tells you what it actually means.

You answer a few questions and it points you to the right review, generates your statement and cover letter, filled in with your answers, and shows the date it has to be in by. You review it, change anything, sign it, and file it yourself.

What it costs, and who you pay

You never have to pay for the filing itself.

Filing a review is free. The only people who can legally charge for help are accredited attorneys, and only a capped share of your back pay, and only after your first decision. Anyone else who wants a percentage up front is breaking the law.

Accredited attorneys can take a capped percentage of your back pay, and usually only at the higher appeal stages. Worth it for a complex case, costly for a straightforward one.

I had no idea there was so much that went into this. The kit asked me a few questions and pointed me straight to a Supplemental Claim. My rating went up and the customer service was amazing!

The rating math never made sense to me until Owedify. I thought I was at 80 and I was at 70. Knowing that is why I filed for an increase instead of giving up.

I was ready to give up after my denial. The kit explained everything I needed to do, pointed me to the right review, and drafted my statement. I was able to file myself. Thank you!
